There is a large variety of mammals, birds, insects, and reptiles that could be found in a Temperate deciduous forest. Mammals that are common in a deciduous forest include bears, raccoons, squirrels, skunks, and wood mice. While bobcats, mountain lions, timber-wolves, and coyotes are natural residents of these forests, they have nearly been eliminated by humans because of their threat to human life. Other animals that were native to this forest, such as elk and bison, have been endangered.
